He can protect anything except his heart
Leese Phelps’s road hasn’t been an easy one, but it’s brought him to the perfect job — working for the elite Body Armor security agency. And what his newest assignment lacks in size, she makes up for in fire and backbone. But being drawn to Catalina Nicholson is a dangerous complication, especially since it could be the very man who hired Leese who’s threatening her.
What Catalina knows could get her killed. But who’d believe the sordid truth about her powerful stepfather? Beyond Leese’s ripped body and brooding gaze is a man of impeccable honour. He’s the last person she expects to trust — and the first who’s ever made her feel safe. And he’s the only one who can help her expose a deadly secret, if they can just stay alive long enough...

Under Pressure by Lori Foster
First there was the SBC Fighters series, then the Ultimate series, and now the Body Armor series, all related and all worth dropping whatever you’re doing and reading. And remember Leese? Well, he’s redeemed himself and earned his own story!
Catalina Nicholson is on the run, in more trouble than she knows how to escape, and unable to trust anyone. So when two men come to her rescue, she’s not sure what to think — except that Leese Phelps is worth pursuing. Unwilling to tell her new bodyguards the whole story, she shuts down when Leese pushes her for more info, but as the threats to her safety continue to pile up, it’s clear that something’s got to give.
Stuck with Cat in close quarters, Leese only wants to protect her — and get the whole truth. But his attraction to the infuriating and fiery woman with whose safety and survival he’s charged is getting beyond a point that he can control it. She doesn’t exactly trust him enough to tell him everything, silently convinced that if she does, he’ll leave turn his back on her like everyone else has. But the undeniable chemistry between them is blurring the lines for both of them.
While this is the first novel in a new series, it’s impossible not to compare Under Pressure to all the related books that came before it — and it’s just as good as the rest of them. Sure, Armie’s still my favorite (that will probably never change), but the moral turnaround we previously saw in Leese has exploded into the kind of awesome alpha male that Lori Foster has always been so good at fleshing out, and I loved seeing him become the man we only got a glimpse of before. And as always, Cat, while she may be a damsel in distress, is no weakling. She’s got spunk, confidence even as she’s running for her life, and is just the kind of woman Leese needs. Under Pressure is filled with lots of suspense, witty dialog, and the hottest connection between Cat and Leese, and once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down until I hit the last page. Of course, this has got me remembering all my fave fighters from before, so I’ll probably have to reread all the earlier books between now and when the next Body Armor novel comes out. Can’t really complain about that, can I?
